A woman born in 1987, Rayya Muhammad al Hamdawi, from Maskana town in eastern Aleppo governorate was shot and killed on June 9, 2022 by a Syrian regime forces’ sniper while she was working in farmlands in the silos area west of Tadef city in the eastern suburbs of Aleppo governorate.
SNHR notes that the incident took place near the frontlines between Syrian regime forces and armed opposition factions. The area has witnessed several incidents where civilians working in their farmlands in the region were killed by snipers.
SNHR notes that the Syrian regime forces have violated the international human rights law through this killing, and the perpetrators must be held accountable.
