A four-year-old girl, we are yet to identify her name, was killed on May 25, 2022, by the explosion of a landmine left by an unknown party while she was playing in farmland near al Qastal village of al Salamiya city east of Hama governorate, which is under the control of the Syrian regime forces.

SNHR is still trying to reach witnesses from that incident to get more details.

We demand the controlling force to bear the responsibility of protecting civilians in its areas, and to discover and remove the locations of mines planted there.

We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries as a result of mine explosions; What constitutes a major threat to the population over subsequent years in those areas, especially to children.
