A civilian was killed by the explosion of a mine left by an unknown party in western Raqqa governorate on May 5

A 20-year-old civilian, Hasan al Mes’ef from al Mwaileh village west of Raqqa governorate, was killed on May 5, 2022, by the explosion of a landmine left by an unknown party in the village which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

SNHR is still trying to reach witnesses from that incident to get more details.

We demand the controlling force to bear the responsibility of protecting civilians in its areas, and to discover and remove the locations of mines planted there.

We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries as a result of mine explosions; What constitutes a major threat to the population over subsequent years in those areas, especially to children.
