Two girls, Rusil Muhammad Sheikho, born in 2006, and Zahida Subhi Kojar, born in 2005, both from Shadira village of Afrin city north of Aleppo governorate, were abducted on March 28, 2022, by Syrian Democratic Forces personnel in front of Qahraman School in al Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood in Aleppo city for conscription, and they were taken to recruitment camps in Manbej city in the eastern suburbs of Aleppo governorate.

SNHR notes that the girl’s parents have not been informed of her whereabouts, and she hasn’t been allowed to contact her family, who are also forbidden from visiting her. We fear she may be forced to participate in direct or indirect military operations, and confirm that around 156 children are still conscripted in Syrian Democratic Forces recruitment camps.
