On March 10, 2022, Ezat Adnan Fadel al Mahameid from Daraa al Balad in Daraa city was abducted by unidentified gunmen near al Tayba village east of Daraa governorate. Two days later, on March 12, his body was found, bearing gunshot wounds, in Um al Mayathen village, also in Daraa governorate’s eastern suburbs by residents there.

Um al Mayathen village is under the control of Syrian regime forces, with SNHR so far unable to identify the party responsible for his murder.

Although the controlling forces are responsible for identifying the perpetrators, they have yet to open an investigation into this killing, which raises questions about their involvement in this incident and other similar incidents.
