Ahmad Sofi, a reporter for ARKTV and REBAZ News and member of the regional committee for the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Syria, from al Malkiya city in the northeastern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, was arrested by Syrian Democratic Forces in al Malkiya city on February 19, 2022, and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no member of his family has been informed of the reason for his arrest, and his phone was confiscated, while he’s been prevented from contacting his family. SNHR fears that he will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’, like approximately 85 percent of all detained persons in Syria.
