Syrian Democratic Forces’ patrol personnel seized two homes belonging to two civilian members of al Shehada family in al Tarwaziya village in the northern suburbs of Raqqa governorate, after forcing the residents to leave them, in order to convert the two houses into military facilities. We note that these forces seized the home of Saleh al Shehada on February 1, 2022 and the home of Abdullah al Shehada on February 10, 2022.
SNHR condemns Syrian Democratic Forces’ forced seizure of civilian houses and conversion of these homes into military points and bases.
The international community must work on ensuring the immediate return of the forcibly displaced to their homes, put an end to the reasons leading to more displacement, and take effective steps that guarantee the displaced the ability to return safely to their homes, as well as accelerating the political transition process according to a strict timetable that doesn’t exceed six months.
