Ahmad Abdul Salam al Hamidi from Idlib governorate, died on February 1, 2022 as a result of gunshot wounds he sustained on January 26, 2022 when he was shot by members of Syrian Democratic Forces as they opened fire on a vehicle carrying civilians in Um Tammakh village of Manbej city east of Aleppo governorate.
SNHR notes that another civilian, who’d been displaced from Damascus governorate, died immediately as a result of this targeting of a civilian vehicle by the Syrian Democratic Forces, meaning that the death toll of victims of the shooting has now risen to two, both civilians.
We note that Um Tammakh village is under Syrian Democratic Forces’ control, and that the shooting took place while the civilians were attempting to leave the area under SDF control on their way to an area under Syrian National Army control.
SNHR stresses that Syrian Democratic Forces have again violated international human rights law through these killings, and the perpetrators must be held accountable.
