On October 16, 2021, Sarmada police station and its surrounding area in the northern outskirts of Sarmada city in the northern suburbs of Idlib governorate were targeted with two shells whose source haven’t yet been identified, with the primary parties suspected of responsibility for the attack being Russian and Syrian regime forces, since the shelling emanated from an area controlled by them. The investigation process is still underway to specifically identify the party responsible for the bombing.
The attack caused the deaths of four individuals, including the head of the police station, and the injury of 13 others in addition to severe damage to the station’s structure and its surrounding area.
