A 20-year-old woman, named as Delyar Muhammad Othman, from Breimja village which is administratively a part of Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, was arrested on August 14, 2021 by the Syrian National Army during a raid on her home in the village and taken to an undisclosed location.

SNHR notes that no member of the detained woman’s family was informed of her arrest or whereabouts, with her phone being confiscated, preventing her from contacting her family. SNHR fears that she will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’, like approximately 85 percent of all detained persons in Syria.

SNHR can confirm that at least 3,577 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the armed opposition’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to the detainees’ wellbeing.
