The body of a 42-year-old Iraqi refugee, named as Farhan Mahmoud Baker, was discovered by local families in Section One of al Hawl IDP Camp near al Hawl town in the eastern suburbs of Hasaka governorate on August 6, 2021, bearing signs of gunshot wounds.

Although the SNHR is unable to identify the party responsible for the civilian’s killing, the area is controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces. Despite the controlling forces bearing responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, they have not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of their involvement in the killing.
