The body of a man from al Sharaea town in al Laja area in the eastern suburbs of Daraa governorate, named as Haitham Bassam Fawaz al Ghsein, was discovered by local families near al Sheikh Saed town in the western suburbs of the governorate on June 9, 2021. SNHR notes that Haitham was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen the day before on the road linking al Mzayreeb town and al Yadouda village in the western suburbs of the governorate.
Although the SNHR is unable to identify the party responsible for the civilian’s killing, the area is controlled by Syrian regime forces. Despite the controlling forces bearing responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, they have not launched any investigation which increases the suspicion of their involvement in the killing.
