A man from al Mayadeen city in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, named as Muhammad Hamoud al Fleiti, died on May 19, 2021 due to wounds inflicted on May 18 by Syrian Democratic Forces personnel when they opened fire on protesters in al Shaddadi city in the southern suburbs of Hasaka governorate while they were taking part in a peaceful demonstration against a decision issued by SDF to raise fuel prices in areas under their control.
SNHR notes that the Syrian Democratic Forces have committed another violation of international humanitarian law through this indiscriminate killing, for which the perpetrator must be held accountable.
