Three children, a 12-year-old girl, Raghdaa Ahmad al Musa, an eight-year-old boy Ahmad Helal al Kneir and his three-year-old sister Dalal, were killed on March 12, 2021, while the sibling’s father was injured when a landmine of so-far unknown origin exploded near the car they were travelling in in al Emayya village which is administratively a part of al Sa’en town in the eastern suburbs of Hama governorate. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
SNHR calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, to reveal the sites of planted landmines and to remove them. We have documented hundreds of deaths and injuries resulting from mine explosions, which will continue to constitute a real threat to people, particularly children, for several years to come.
