The body of a 25-year-old refugee woman from Iraq, named as Mariam Ahmad al Makhoul, who was living in al Hawl IDP Camp near al Hawl Camp in the eastern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, was discovered in Section One of the camp on March 5, 2021, bearing signs of gunshot wounds.
SNHR is unable to identify the party responsible for her killing. The area is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. Despite the controlling forces bearing responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity, they have not launched any investigation, which increases the suspicion of their involvement in the killing.
