Unidentified gunmen used IEDs to blow up a gas pipeline in the Badiya (deserted area) of Abu Khashab village which is administratively a part of Soor town in the northern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate on February 27, 2021, severely damaging the pipeline and causing a massive fire. As a result, the pipeline was put out of service. The area is controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces with the pipeline that came under attack linking al Jabasa Gas Factory in al Shaddadi city in south of Hasaka governorate with al Rayyan Gas Station in Homs governorate. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
We condemn the attack on the gas pipeline and call on the Syrian Democratic Forces to carry out an investigation and hold the perpetrators accountable.
