An eight-year-old child, named as Muhammad Saleh al Sayer, died on January 5, 2021, due to wounds sustained on January 2, 2021, when a member of the Syrian regime’s National Defense forces threw a grenade in the middle of Hasaka city following a quarrel between a member of Syrian regime’s National Defense forces and the regime’s Criminal Security division. SNHR notes that the explosion also resulted in the immediate death of another, adult civilian.
SNHR notes that the Syrian regime forces have committed a violation of international humanitarian law through this indiscriminate killing, for which the perpetrator must be held accountable.
