A seven-year-old girl, named as Ruwaa Hasan al Ahmad al Jamil, and three adult civilians, named as Ziad Mustafa al Jarbou’e, Mustafa al Ahmad al Abdul Razzaq al Hammoudi and Khaled Hasan al Oqleh, were killed in an attack carried out by unidentified gunmen who used light and medium weapons to target buses and fuel trucks on the road linking the Raqqa and Hama governorates in Wadi al Atheeb area in the eastern suburbs of Hama governorate, on January 3, 2021. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
SNHR condemns all attacks of this nature which target and kill civilians and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
