Two men from the same family, named as 32-year-old Hussein Ibrahim Alikou and 24-year-old Dalil Rashid Alikou, from Anqala village which is administratively a part of Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, were arrested by Syrian National Army personnel in Jandaris town in the northern suburbs of the governorate on December 2, 2020, and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no members of the detained men’s family were informed of their arrests, with the phones being confiscated, preventing them from contacting their relatives. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of the individuals detained.
SNHR notes that about 3,244 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the Armed Opposition’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
