Two men from Abu Wahel village in the eastern suburbs of Raqqa governorate, named as Khamis Ismail al Alloush and Saleh Muhammad Saedoun, were arrested on October 23, 2020, by Syrian Democratic Forces during a raid on their homes in the village and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no members of their family were informed of their arrests, with their phones were taken from them, preventing them from contacting their families. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of those detained in Syria.
SNHR notes that approximately 3,337 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the SDF’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing.
