Syrian Democratic Forces raided on al Sh-heil town in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate on October 23, 2020. SNHR has documented that seven civilians, including a child, were arrested and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no members of detainees’ families were informed of their arrests, with their phones were taken from them preventing them from contacting their families. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of all those detained in Syria.
SNHR notes that approximately 3,337 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in SDF’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
