The Two brother Fouad al Basbous, a reporter, and Meqdam al Basbous, a media activist, from Saraqeb city in the northern suburbs of Idlib governorate, were arrested by the Public Prosecution of salvation government affiliated with Hay’at Tahrir al Sham on October 24, 2020, after they were summoned to the building of Public Prosecution in Idlib city on the background of Fouad’s criticism of the salvation government and HTS and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR can confirm that at least 2,116 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the HTS’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to the detainees’ wellbeing given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
