Two men from al Hawayij village in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, named as Hareth Azouz al Saleh and Bashar al Abadish, were arrested by Syrian Democratic Forces on October 12, 2020, during a raid on their homes and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no members of their family were informed of their arrests, with their phones were taken from them, preventing them from contacting their family. SNHR fears that they will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of those detained in Syria.
SNHR notes that approximately 3,337 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the SDF’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing.
