A man born in 1995, named as Basem Abdul Wahhab al Mheisen was from al Boukamal city in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate and resided on Raqqa city. Basem was arrested by Syrian Democraic Forces on August 28, 2020, during a raid on his home in al Idekhar neighborhood in Raqqa city and taken to a SDF’s detention center. On September 10, 2020, his body was handed over to his family bearing signs of torture.
SNHR notes that about 3,337 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the SDF’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing.
