An IED of unknown origin exploded in the Syrian Democratic Forces’ local council building in Abu Hamam city which is administratively a part of al Sh’aitat area in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate on September 2, 2020, partially damaging the building. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.

SNHR condemns all explosions which target civilians through indiscriminate killing and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control and conduct investigation and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition toward democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
