An IED of unknown origin exploded in front of a shop in a local market in Ras al Ein city in the northern suburbs of Hasaka governorate on August 27, 2020, killing one civilian, injuring ten others, and partially damaging several shops and market facilities. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.

SNHR condemns all explosions which target civilians through indiscriminate killing and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control and conduct investigation and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition toward democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
