A 20-year-old man from Daman village which is administratively a part of al Bseira city in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, named as Khaled Hamad al Aani, was arrested by Syrian Democratic Forces personnel on July 27, 2020, during a raid on the village and taken to al Kesra Prison in al Kesra city in the western suburbs of the governorate and tortured to death. On July 29, 2020, his body was handed over to his family bearing signs of torture.
SNHR notes that about 3,337 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the SDF’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing.
