An IED of so-far unknown origin, placed in a shopping cart in a vegetable market in Ras al Ein city in the northwestern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, exploded, resulting in a massacre and causing severe damage to the market’s facilities on July 26, 2020. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.
SNHR condemns all explosions which target civilians through indiscriminate killing and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control and conduct investigation and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition toward democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
