A man aged 72 from Qastal Khadraya village which is administratively a part of Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, named as Ramadan Muhammad Allou, was arrested by the Syrian National Army personnel on July 25, 2020, during a raid on his home in the village and taken to an undisclosed location.
SNHR notes that no member of his family was informed of his arrest, with his phone being confiscated, preventing him from contacting his family. SNHR fears that he will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’, like approximately 85 percent of the detained persons.
SNHR notes that about 3,244 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in detention centers of factions of the Armed Opposition, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
