A displaced civilian from the eastern suburbs of Hama governorate was killed when Syrian regime forces used a missile launcher to shell Tal Waset village in Sahl al Ghab in the western suburbs of Hama governorate on July 19, 2020.
SNHR notes that, with this crime, the Syrian regime has committed another violation of international humanitarian law through killing another civilian in indiscriminate and deliberate bombardment which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, and which constitutes a war crime. We have documented thousands of killings which have been committed by Syrian regime forces since the beginning of the popular uprising in March 2011. With the death toll of Syrian civilians killed by Syria regime forces exceeding 199,000 in total, the international community must intervene to protect civilians in Syria from these ongoing killing operations.
