Lina Abdul Baqi Khalaf, a teenage girl born in 2005, was kidnapped for conscription by Syrian Democratic Forces on July 2, 2020, from her home village of Tal Karm, which is administratively a part of al Derbasiya town in the northwestern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, and taken to an undisclosed location.

SNHR notes that no member of the girl’s family was informed of her arrest and she has been prevented from contacting her family, who are not allowed to visit her. SNHR fears that she will be forced to engage directly and indirectly in military operations, and confirms that around 86 children are still detained for forced conscription in the SDF’s camps.
