Omar Abdul Karim Haroun was inadvertently shot dead on June 25, 2020, during clashes between Hay’at Tahrir al Sham and factions affiliated with the ‘Fathbutou: So Be Steadfast’ operations room (which includes the Hurras al Din Organization and other factions that defected from Hay’at Tahrir al Sham) while he was in his home in the west of Idlib city. We note that Omar suffered from paraplegia as a result of his earlier participation in clashes between factions of the armed opposition and Syrian regime forces -besides the first party-. SNHR is unable to identify the party responsible for his death as of this writing, while the governing forces hold the responsibility for revealing the perpetrator’s identity.
