Mudar al Ali was a college student at Faculty of Administrative Sciences from Ma’ar Zita village in the southern suburbs of Idlib governorate. He was arrested by Hay’at Tahrir al Sham personnel on October 19, 2019, during a raid on his home in the village. On June 18, 2020, his family received information confirming that HTS executed him by firing squad on April 15, 2018, inside a detention center while his body wasn’t handed over to his family.

SNHR notes that the killing in this manner is a blatant violation of the international Human right law and is considered as an unlawful killing as the execution took place without a fair trial but according to beliefs of HTS extremist group.
