Syrian Democratic Forces carried out a raid on al Zer village which is administratively a part of al Bseira city in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate on June 16, 2020, SNHR documented the arrests of 15 civilians who were taken to an undisclosed location.

SNHR notes that no members of the detained civilians’ families were informed of their arrest, with their phones being confiscated, preventing them from contacting their families. SNHR fears that the detainees will be subjected to torture and ultimately classified as forcibly ‘disappeared’ like approximately 85 percent of all those detained in Syria.

SNHR further notes that approximately 3,090 Syrian citizens are still detained or forcibly disappeared in the SDF’s detention centers, constituting a grave threat to their wellbeing given the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
