Ma’an al Demashqi was from al Shaghour neighborhood in Damascus city. SNHR documented that he was shot dead by a stray bullet from an unknown source in Afrin city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate on May 19, 2020. SNHR has been unable to identify the party responsible for his death up to the time of writing. The governing forces in each area bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control and revealing the perpetrator’s identity. The Syrian National Army has not launched any investigation into this case, which increases the likelihood of their involvement in the operation.
